English and American civil liberties

Figured I’d introduce myself so Jon isn’t the only guy posting on here!

My name’s Preston. I’m a civil libertarian and English lawyer who spent 15 years in Blighty and greatly lamented the absence of civil liberties in that country - including speech restrictions and very deeply-entrenched Hoplophobia.

Wrote a blog post about it. A lot of what happens in the UK today is what the American authoritarian set should like for our future, including (infamously) absurd proposals like banning the purchase of kitchen knives over the Internet, or arresting people for making political jokes in poor taste. Figured I’d share it here.

Awesome  I’ve added a law tag to this one.
